Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Aspen Book Company ("we," "us"), which operates the Read Your
Color subscription, collects and uses your information. We keep it simple: we collect what we need to
send you books, and we don't sell your data.
Information we collect
- Contact & shipping details — your name, email address, and shipping address.
- Order information — your reading color, subscription status, and order history.
- Reading history (optional) — if you choose to upload your Goodreads,
The StoryGraph, or Pagebound library export, the book titles, authors, ISBNs, star ratings,
shelves, and dates read in that file. More on this in "Your reading history" below.
- How you use our site — which of our pages you visit, how far you get through
the color quiz, and the result it gives you. More on this in "How we measure our own site"
below.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never
receive or store your full card number.
- Basic technical & cookie data — standard information your browser sends (like
your IP address), our host's server logs, and cookies. We use essential cookies for
the site and secure checkout (including Stripe's fraud-prevention cookies), and
advertising cookies from Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google to measure our ads and
show you relevant ones. You can opt out via your browser settings, the
Meta and
Google ad-preference pages, or by emailing us.
How we use it
- To curate, pack, and ship your monthly box.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To send you transactional and service emails (order confirmations, shipping, back-in-stock,
billing notices).
- To provide support and improve the service.
- To understand how our site and the color quiz are actually used, so we can make them better.
Your reading history (optional)
If you'd like, you can upload your library export file (a CSV) from Goodreads,
The StoryGraph, or Pagebound — on the page right after checkout,
or anytime from your box page. From
that file we store the book titles, authors, ISBNs, your star ratings, your shelf or status (read,
want-to-read, currently reading), and dates read, tied to your subscription. Why? So we never send you
a book you've already read, and can lean toward the ones you want to read. A few things we want to be
plain about:
- It's completely optional. Skipping it changes nothing about your subscription.
- We never touch your account. We don't connect to, log into, or scrape Goodreads,
The StoryGraph, or Pagebound — we only read the file you choose to hand us.
- It's used only to choose your books. Never sold, never shared with anyone else, and
not used for advertising.
- It's stored securely. Only our fulfillment system can read it — it isn't visible in
your browser or to other customers.
- Fresh file, fresh start. Each time you upload a new export, it replaces the old one
entirely.
- It doesn't outlive your subscription. If you cancel, your reading history is
deleted automatically — or email info@aspenbookco.com
anytime and we'll delete it right away.
How we measure our own site
We count how our own pages get used, so we can tell where people get stuck — for example, how many
people start the color quiz and how many finish it. We do this ourselves rather than handing it to an
analytics company. Here's exactly what that involves:
- A random ID in your browser. Your browser stores a randomly generated identifier
so we can tell one visit apart from another. It isn't your name or your email, we don't try to work
out who you are from it, and it can't follow you to other websites.
- What we record. Which of our pages you reached, whether you started the quiz,
whether you finished the questions, the color result you got, whether you joined the email list or
skipped it, and whether you're on a phone or a computer.
- What we don't do. We don't record your answers to individual quiz questions, and
this information is never sold, never shared with anyone else, and not used for advertising.
- Clearing it. Clearing your browser's site data for readyourcolor.com removes the
identifier. Blocking it doesn't break anything — the site and the quiz work exactly the same.
This is separate from the Meta and Google advertising cookies described above, which are theirs, not
ours.
The color quiz email list
At the end of the quiz you can enter your email to hear from us — that's optional, and choosing
"No thanks" still shows you your result. If you do enter it, we store your address and your color
result so we can send you those emails. It's handled by our website host, Netlify.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we'll take you off.
Who we share it with
We share only what's needed with the service providers that make the subscription work. We do not sell
your personal information.

How long we keep it
We keep your information while your subscription is active and as needed afterward for records, legal,
tax, and support purposes. You can ask us to delete it (subject to those obligations).
Your choices & rights
You can access, correct, or delete your information, and opt out of non-essential email, by contacting
info@aspenbookco.com. Depending on where you live (for
example, California), you may have additional rights over your personal information; we honor those
requests.
Security
We use reputable providers and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but
we work to keep your information safe and limit who can see it.
Children
Read Your Color is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13; we don't knowingly
collect their information.
Changes
We'll post updates here with a new "last updated" date, and notify you of material changes where
appropriate.
